Looking for five 4th of July party ideas that will sparkle? You’ve landed in the right place for great patriotic bash inspiration!
If you have read any of my previous 4th of July posts, you know I love this holiday! I even mentioned in my last blog post about my July 3rd wedding and its theme. If you want to see an old wedding photo of mine – be sure to read that post!
My husband and I have been hosting 4th of July parties since we were in college. Of course – back then it was simply coordinating the food and beer and getting a good spot at Del Mar beach for the fireworks show at our local fairground. FYI- you can see the fairground fireworks from that beach! Pretty cool – huh?
Because last year was my first 4th of July with a blog to share ideas on how to host a party that sparkles – my photos and ideas today will be my setup for last year’s backyard party ;).
I am also joining ten other blogging friends for this post to share absolutely anything related to summer with you guys! Be sure to scroll down to see what my very talented friends have to inspire you with today ;).
If you are coming here from my friend Robyn’s at Robyn’s French Nest – did you love her summer mantel decorating ideas? I always love everything she does in her home!
Now let’s get to the party – shall we?

4th of July Party Ideas That Will Sparkle
Serve Red & White Drinks
I would say serve blue drinks too but honestly – none come to mind for me š¤·āāļø.
My favorite summer drink is lemonade. Pretty much any flavor lemonade. In fact – have you had a watermelon basil lemonade drink before? Can I just say – yes please!
Trader Joe’s is always a good bet for a red colored lemonade drink. However last year, I just bought strawberry lemonade jugs from Costco and poured them into my handy drink dispensers. Then I added blackberries and raspberries to give it an extra festive look ;).
And as with every party you will ever host – you should always have a dispenser of water. My favorite addition to water more recently is cucumbers and mint. While I know this is not going with the red, white, and blue theme – holy toledo is it refreshing!!
The peach flavored drink above is again not going with the red, white, and blue theme BUT OMG IS IT DELICIOUS! You can find that drink mixer here.
Have a Patriotic Dessert Table
You absolutely cannot have a 4th of July party without a dessert table. Actually – you cannot have ANY party without a dessert table.
At least not one that I will be at with you. Because if there is no dessert table at your party – I will probably be giving somewhat of a stink eye. But maybe that’s just me?
I honestly keep every single party I have ever hosted SUPER SIMPLE. I do not take this time to try something new and I most certainly do not spend the whole weekend prepping in the kitchen.
That is just not enjoyable to me.
Plus – there are so many red, white, and blue candies and desserts available nowadays – why make more work for yourself? Unless that is your jam…
Williams Sonoma and See’s Candies have always been my go-to for party treats. They have never disappointed ;).
But you can really never ever go wrong with good ole fashioned M&M’s and Skittles ;).
The milk glass candy bowls were found many many years ago on Etsy. Just go to that website and search ‘milk glass candy dishes’ and a ton of options will be given to you ;). I found a similar one to the one above here!
Place Flags Everywhere
Probably goes without saying but can you even have a Fourth of July party without flags everywhere? Put them on the table, in flower pots, in the grass, on the front porch…
I have said in previous posts that I am enamored with my friend Lorin’s neutral flags from her Something Gray website however they are no longer listed so if you are interested in purchasing some – try reaching out to her via DM on Instagram or email ;).
Otherwise – I have plenty of burlap Pottery Barn flags around my yard as well as the less expensive Amazon mini flag option.
Use Festive Paper Products
I almost always use Dixie Ultra dinner plates for my Fourth of July parties and buy plain white linen feel paper napkins. In fact – I buy the white napkins in bulk and always have them handy for any entertaining I do ;).
However this year – I was influenced via a sponsored post on Instagram to get some super cute patriotic napkins (see below for links!).
Decorate with Red, White, and Blue Banners
And last but certainly not least – hang some banners around the house and yard. These would be that final touch that really helps set the stage for a festive and fun celebration!
I hope you found my five 4th of July party ideas that will sparkle helpful in planning your patriotic celebration.
No matter what you end up doing – just enjoy being with whoever you choose to be with on this holiday. The most important addition to any party is being with people that make you smile and laugh. And who you can be your most authentic self with ;).
