To get the best exchange rate in Ireland, it is best to use your credit card as often as possible - and pay 'in current currency' when doing so. Bank ATMs are my only recommended place to get cash to avoid unnecessary additional fees and the best exchange rate. Bank ATMs are widely available throughout the country.
CREDIT CARDS & ATM'S:
In Ireland, the plugs are type G, the standard voltage is 230V, & the standard frequency is 50Hz. I recommend buying this adapter for US to Ireland which is the same type of plug used in the UK.
PLUGS:
The official currency in Ireland is the Euro however keep in mind that Northern Ireland is part of the UK where the official currency is pounds.
