One of my favorite things to decorate with is sentimental items… my dad passed away from prostate cancer in June 2006 at the age of 64. Not a day goes by that I do not think about him. Shortly after he passed away, my mom told us to take any items of his that we would cherish. For many years before my dad passed away, he would travel to Amelia Island, Florida for a business conference. He loved this saying he found on t-shirts in a shop on those trips. So much so, that he bought multiple t-shirts with the saying on them after he was diagnosed with his cancer. I took one of those t-shirts as I thought the saying was so profound for someone that knew he was dying of cancer. One day, I asked a close friend and neighbor who is extremely talented with home decor and a sewing machine if she could make my dad’s t-shirt into a pillow. Little did I know that she was going to pour so much love and detail into my special item. She had a little extra material and made a couple of matching smaller pillows to lay next to this pillow.

Where would you go? What would you do? If every window was open to you? Do you have the courage without any doubt to reach for your dreams and take the last flight out? This will stay with me forever but especially as I start this new blogging journey of mine…and I know my dad would be so proud of this crazy adventure I have decided to take!

Other items I LOVE to use in my decor are personalized books like these in the photo. They are all over Etsy but I have linked one of my favorite stores here. Beads are also a favorite decor item as well as baskets and trays.

Another favorite item of mine to decorate with is faux plants… not going to lie, I cannot be trusted to keep any plant alive so faux is my jam. I also love decorating with treasures from my travels and photos but that is a post for another day :)!
