To get the best exchange rate in Italy, it is best to use your credit card as often as possible - and pay 'in current currency' when doing so. Bank ATMs are my only recommended place to get Euros to avoid unnecessary additional fees and the best exchange rate. Bank ATMs are widely available throughout Italy.

CREDIT CARDS & ATM'S:

In Italy, the plugs are type F, the standard voltage is 230V, & the standard frequency is 50Hz. I recommend buying this adapter for US to Italy.

The official currency in Italy is the Euro.

CURRENCY:

The official language of Italy is Italian.  While most Italian people speak English - a polite way to greet a local is to say 'Ciao!' ;).
