To get the best exchange rate in the UK, it is best to use your credit card as often as possible - and pay 'in current currency' when doing so. Bank ATMs are my only recommended place to get cash to avoid unnecessary additional fees and the best exchange rate. Bank ATMs are widely available throughout the UK.

In the UK, the plugs are type G, the standard voltage is 230V, & the standard frequency is 50Hz. I recommend buying this adapter for US to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
