Looking for tips on how to make a festive patriotic front porch? You have come to the right place for loads of ideas ;).
My front porch is somewhat small and hidden to the side of my house. But that doesn’t stop me from making it a welcoming place in my home…
You know – so the UPS, Amazon, and DoorDash drivers can enjoy the view 😂.
But seriously – I do get plenty of friends stopping by. And if I haven’t accidentally left my garage door open for them to enter that way – they will get to see my festive patriotic decor too!
These next couple of months are some of my favorites of the year for all things Pasha is Home (or not home if I am out adventuring ☺️).
Besides Memorial Day and Fourth of July BBQ’s – it’s also my birthday and wedding anniversary months so there is always something to celebrate in my house this time of year! YAY- because I LOVE celebrating with friends and family!
You will find some simple tips for your front porch in this post as well as some more patriotic inspiration from seven of my talented blogging friends.

Items I Used on My Festive Patriotic Front Porch
Patriotic Flag Banners
My flag banners are almost ten years old I think!! Obviously they only come out for about a month every year. But I am still impressed at how well they have held up…
While mine are no longer available – I found some very similar ones that are honestly quite cute and festive and would work perfectly just like the two strands I hung on my porch ;).
Flags & Pinwheels
I found some sturdy pinwheels at Target back when my kids were little and they are also still going strong ;). Don’t you love it when a decor items stand the test of time??
Since the ones I bought almost ten years ago are clearly not for sale anymore – I found some newer and equally as festive and patriotic pinwheels for you below!
The majority of my mini flags are from an Instagram friend named Something Gray. The flags are not currently listed on her website. However if you reach out to her via Instagram or email, I bet she would make a custom order for you (as she did for me last year too!).
Unless my plants are actually IN the ground with an automatic sprinkler on them – they will 100% die. Sad fact, I know. But it is true…
Thank goodness faux flowers have come a LONG WAY in the last decade plus! Pretty much brought flowers back into my life ;).
I have purchased white and blue hydrangeas from two different sources this year and truthfully cannot tell much of a difference. Their costs are pretty similar too. And since I know I will be able to use these faux stems for many years to come – the investment is worth it to me ;).
The faux trees are also a great investment. Ever since Studio McGee started selling decor items at Target – the standard was set ;).
Blue Pillows & Throws
Since blue is my favorite color – this is an easy one for me. I literally have blue pillows and throws everywhere in my house.
So moving a few of them outside to my festive patriotic front porch took all of one minute ;). I did however get a star throw this year too for some added fun 🇺🇸.
If you have been around for a while – you know the fun story of how we dug the rocking chair in the photo below out of a dumpster when my husband was in grad school ;).
The star pillow above was an awesome find at a local shop. I have searched high and low on the world wide web for something similar to link for you guys and I have come up completely empty handed.
It is one of my favorite patriotic pillows and I sure wish I could share the maker with you but I don’t even have her name!!!
Okay – I cannot sit here and type about my new patriotic doormat without telling you I am fully aware that I BOUGHT THE WRONG SIZE 😬.
And of course, once this one arrived, the bigger size went on backorder.
So here I am using a too small doormat for my patriotic front porch 🤷♀️.
I did order the bigger size and it will be here before my big 4th of July party sooo I guess I should be grateful for that…
Honestly, I am not even sure who should be using this smaller one though? Maybe if you live in an apartment?
My front door is the standard width size and I personally think this small doormat looks silly in front of it but hey – ya gotta do what ya gotta do- right?
Also – once you start the trend of using a 4 x 6 rug under your doormat – you will never be able to look at a front entryway without one the same (they look naked ahem unfinished to me now!).
Leave it to Shea McGee to start a major design trend that I see no reason to ever stop being done ;).
Besides waiting for the larger doormat to arrive, I am also waiting for some super festive wall art for above my white bench.
It is an Etsy purchase so I need to be patient as the shop owner makes it but I wanted to share it with you in case you are looking for something festive and patriotic for a wall in your home too!
And before any of you Chicagoans go and tell me this is your city flag – I know. But it is still patriotic. And cool looking. So I bought it.
And also – I was born in Chicago over 50 years ago so I think it’s still fine if I hang it on my front porch…
Plus I kinda doubt anyone in San Diego will know this is the Chicago city flag 😂.
The Etsy shop also sells a really cool looking USA flag but I loved the light blue chambray color on the Chicago flag and couldn’t be swayed to another design.
However if you just can’t bring yourself to buy a Chicago flag or you are a Packers fan and doing so is completely unacceptable in your neck of the woods – here is the USA flag wall art.
I hope you found this post inspiring and useful as you are getting your house ready for the patriotic holidays ahead. A festive patriotic porch is the perfect place to start!
Trust me – I know. The rest of my house is in disarray from the kitchen project we have going so my porch is all I’ve got festively decorated for now ;).
