Looking for simple ways to make your kitchen merry? I have a few suggestions that I have done in my own holiday kitchen.
The kitchen is such a fun place to decorate for the season.
Plus it is one of the places in a house where we spend the most time.
So why not make sure it is full of simple reminders of the holiday?
I try not to go overboard in any of the rooms in my house when it comes to Christmas decor (although my family may beg to differ 😂).
Be sure to look at my post on how to add holiday decor to your bedrooms while you are here btw ;).
Here are the simple ways I make my own kitchen merry!

Simple Ways to Make Your Kitchen Merry
Festive Salt and Pepper Shakers
Salt and pepper shakers are a really fun way to add a festive touch to your kitchen.
Last year I also found some fun holiday measuring cups that I keep on my counter next to my s&p and butter dish too!
Holiday Spatulas
This is my second year as a blogger writing holiday decor posts…
And if you have been around since last year – you know I LOVE having different spatulas for the seasons.
Obviously Christmas is no exception ;).
Christmas Dish Towels and Soap Bottles
My sister came to visit me about six weeks ago and I was putting something away in my dish towel cabinet.
And was a tad surprised at how full that cabinet was 😂.
All that to say – just like the spatulas above, I also have dish towels for every season 🤷♀️.
Polished Jar also just released these gorgeous soap bottles (did you see my post on my favorite small shops too btw?) and I love them!!!
Decor on the Island
I think it goes without saying that the island is the perfect place to add festive decor in the kitchen.
However, I obviously had to include what I have on my kitchen island in this post – right??
The red and white mercury garland is one of my favorite finds from about three years ago.
Actually, I have the silver mercury garland too.
Four of them.
All over the house ;).
Garland Over the Sink
I love this Norfolk Pine garland from Afloral that I purchased about three years ago.
Of course, this season it was only available for about a week in September…
But I did find a similar style at Kirklands for you :).
I also made this homemade orange slice garland that you can watch the video for here!
A Hot Cocoa Station (or Corner)
If we are friends on Instagram – you probably already know I do not drink coffee.
Or tea.
And yes – I struggle in the mornings.
And the afternoons.
But! Hand me a mug of hot chocolate and I am a happy person!!
Plus a hot cocoa station is THE PERFECT festive decor idea!!
Wanna know a secret?
I don’t actually like the flavor of the hot chocolate mixes above…
But I like the way the containers look.
So last year after I purchased this hot chocolate for the third year in a row and remembered I don’t like the taste of them, I dumped the mixes out and kept the containers as decor 🤪.
Kitchen Table Decor
Another obvious way to make your kitchen merry is the kitchen table!
I have shared this idea year after year but since it is my favorite holiday decor item – you will most certainly see it mentioned in a post every year ;).
On our first Christmas as a married couple and obviously the first year we bought a tree together, my husband insisted we keep the small slice of tree stump that the tree farm cuts off to make your tree fresh after you purchase it…
In 1993, I honestly thought very little of the idea but went along with him anyway.
We then proceeded to keep a slice of every single tree since then.
Which means this bowl on my kitchen table has 28 Christmas tree stump slices.
In fact this year is the first year that a slice will not be added as we finally went the faux tree route 😳.
I hope my simple ways to make your kitchen merry were inspirational to you while you are decking the halls of your own home.
And that maybe you even got some festive ideas to use!
