Looking for inspiration on how to decorate your stairs and mantels for Christmas? Those spaces are two of my most favorite of the season to dress up ;).
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I found these garland ties a few years ago.
And they are now one of my favorite holiday accessories to use on my stairs ;).
They have made putting up my stair garland so much easier and faster – which is always a good thing!!
Besides sharing my inspiration for the stairs and my two mantels, I have also joined a very talented group of bloggers to share their holiday home inspiration with you as well.
In fact, they will be sharing all week long! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to see everything that is being shared ;).
If you are coming here from Amy Sadler Designs – hi there! Didn’t you just love how she used the color brown in her holiday decor this year???
And if you are new to Pasha is Home – I really hope you enjoy what you find here and decide to subscribe so that we can be close friends!
That really is my favorite part of blogging ;). It is amazing how small the world wide web has made the world with all these fun connections!!

Christmas Stairs and Mantels
Stair Decor
Garland
The garland I have on my stairs was purchased last year from Target.
They have a similar style available this year but without the white berries and in a 20 foot length.
But you can easily add white berry picks wherever you would like them onto any garland.
As you can see my staircase is quite lengthy and needs multiple strands of garland.
However I have one side that is a shorter banister so if need be, I would just use a wire cutter to cut the longer garland to fit that side :).
I also added my own lights to the garland as these garlands come unlit ;).
Bows
My simple white bows are made with this 2.5 inch white wired ribbon.
I use this ribbon for multiple uses around my holiday home including two tree toppers and wrapping ;).
It is so handy to have and comes in two different widths!
Bells
While I absolutely love the way old bell strands look on my Christmas stairs, they are from McGee and Co and to be perfectly frank, their online store is severely delayed with shipping.
I placed an order for other holiday items over a month ago (IN OCTOBER) and those items have still not shipped with no updated arrival date.
All that to say, if you choose to order bells from them- be prepared to not use them until next year ;0!
I use small clear Command hooks on my stair posts to hang one strand of bells on each one.
Living Room Mantel
Because our living room mantel is in the same room as our 12 foot tall Christmas tree and stairs, I like to keep the decor on this space minimal…
Because the majority of my Christmas decor is many years old, quite a bit of it is no longer available.
I have done my best to find alternatives for you in that instance.
However, even if you don’t use the links I have searched for, hopefully you will find your own items around your home or in your own holiday decor stash to recreate a similar look if you like what you see ;).
Hanging Art and Basket
The art above my living room mantel is one said no longer available item :).
But here are a few newer and even somewhat prettier options:
I just filled a large basket with some faux evergreen stems and wrapped empty Amazon boxes to put in front of the faux fireplace.
Hurricane with Ornaments
I have had this gold hurricane for many years and this year it was finally discontinued ;(.
I have linked some alternatives below though ;)!
You can just fill any glass hurricane or lantern with a few Christmas ball ornaments and it will look quite elegant.
The gold tree is no longer available however here is a pretty alternative I found ;).
Vase and Candlesticks
I found the etched gold planter at a local shop a few years ago and just cannot seem to find anything like it to link for you.
And the candlesticks are a Magnolia Market find that are also no longer available however you will find a few gorgeous alternatives linked below ;).
Family Room Mantel
Garland
Before putting anything on my mantel, I hang this mercury garland on my old window above it.
Then I place a simple snowy garland on the mantel with a strand of battery operated lights.
Ceramic Trees and Houses
The ceramic houses were a find last year and are still available however the trees are no longer available.
This alternative is practically identical though ;).
Stockings and Holders
As I mentioned above, quite a bit of my holiday decor is not new…
In fact, my stocking holders are almost twenty years old and are my oldest daughter’s name.
We spell her name Noelle but still I could not resist these ornament holders all those years ago.
And honestly will probably never be able to replace them ;).
The simple linen stockings are from a few years ago and similar ones are linked below.
I added crumpled up paper towels to each stocking to give them a slightly filled look ;).
Wooden Boxes with Fake Presents and Real Pinecones
The wood carrier box on my hearth was found at a local store and the Edelweiss box was an Etsy find almost ten years ago…
It reminded me of one of my favorite movies growing up (Sound of Music) and I couldn’t resist having it in my house ;).
You can find the birch logs here and the presents are empty Amazon boxes wrapped with brown paper and wired gold ribbon or linen ribbon.
I hope you found inspiration for how to decorate your stairs and mantels for Christmas with this post.
It always surprises me how quickly the holiday season comes upon us and just as quickly comes to an end. I hope these first days and weeks of this joyful season are filled with happiness for you as you wander your own home and make it magical ;).
And that you enjoy the process as much as I do!
